LONGPI CHANNAPATNA LAMP
LONGPI CHANNAPATNA LAMP
The Longpi Lamp is a monumental creation, a testament to the artistry and innovation of traditional Indian craftsmanship. Its base, the largest Longpi piece ever crafted at the Atelier, was rediscovered after years in storage—initially conceived as a prototype during a study of the craft. Reimagined with intricate weaving, the lamp features handwoven channapatna beads meticulously threaded through its many perforations, creating a striking, organic pattern. The design evokes the braided headgear of Naga sadhus, exuding an almost anthropomorphic presence, steeped in cultural symbolism. Towering and bold, the Lamp is not just a light source but a sculptural homage to India’s iconic forms and spiritual heritage.
