OTLO

For its first presentation, OTLO, Ashiesh Shah set forth with his caravan of concepts, steering towards the old Indigo Bungalow - an architecturally prominent landmark amidst the chaos and cacophony of Colaba Causeway. ‘Otlo,’ a gujarati word for threshold, draws from the commonalities of form and function to present heirlooms of the future. Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of ‘Wabi-Sabi,’ these design objects followed a ‘Brutalist Tribal’ characteristic to celebrate beauty in imperfection through a series of handcrafted collectables. With design as a part of The Mumbai Gallery Weekend, a series of functional sculptures were showcased, creating a perfect niche for Atelier Ashiesh Shah that blurs the boundaries between art and design.
